The limited traffic zone (ZTL) in Trastevere is to be expanded to include the final section of Via della Lungara and the Ripa quadrant in order to minimise traffic jams that have been plaguing residents. Blue line metre parking will also be introduced in the new areas. City authorities are planning to introduce new electronic signs in the Trastevere area that will alert motorists whether or not the ZTL hours are in force. Currently driving in the area is limited from 21.00 on Friday until 03.00 on Saturday, and from 21.00 on Saturday until 03.00 on Sunday. However, in two months time there are plans to also enforce the ZTL from Monday to Saturday, 06.30-10.00, following meetings between the city council and residents.
