Corruption reports rise in Italy
Reports of corruption in Italy rose by 229 per cent in 2009 over the previous year according to the state audit court, or Corte dei Conti, which controls possible irregularities in public spending.
Complaints of misappropriation also showed an increase of 153 per cent over the same period.
The figures were released at the official opening of the court
