American artists in Rome

17 Jan-8 Feb. The Moto della Mente art gallery near Piazza Navona presents an exhibition of work by American artists who created art in Rome from the end of the 1960s to the 1990s.

This fine, private collection was amassed over three decades by artist Maria Verzotto whose employment at the American Academy in Rome brought her in contact with a succession of North American artists visiting the Italian capital.

On show are over 100 pieces in small and medium format, mostly works on paper and canvas, but also sculptures in metal and ceramic.

Among the many artists featured in the exhibition are Anthony Ames, Charles Dwyer, Paul Kubic, Karen Saler, Varujan Boghosian, Susan Smyly, Gyorgy Kepes, John Wenger, Edgard Haag, Laura Newman and Frederic Biehle.

Curated by Gianleonardo Latini, the exhibition opens at 18.00 on 17 January.

Mon-Fri 15.00-19.00.
