A nationwide eight-hour strike of local public transport workers has been declared throughout Italy for Friday 20 May. In Rome the strike will begin at 08.30; there will be no buses or trams until 16.30 and the metro stations will reopen at 17.00. The state railway service run by Trenitalia will be running normally.
