Employment on the rise.
According to a study by ISTAT, the Italian national institute of statistics, unemployment in the fourth quarter of 2006 fell to its lowest level since 1993 at 6.9 percent down from 8 percent the year before. The study shows around 333,000 new jobs created between December 2005 and December 2006, an annual increase of 1.5 per cent bringing the total number of positions filled to over 23 million.
Women and foreigners have been primary participants in the job market
