Dante Alighieri Society - The Italian School in Rome

DANTE ALIGHIERI SOCIETY – ITALIAN SCHOOL OF ROME

Since 1889, the historic mission of Dante Alighieri Society is to spread interest and passion for Italian language and Culture among foreign learners. The Italian Language School of Rome is situated in the heart of the city, in the gorgeous sixteenth-century building “Palazzo Firenze”, nearby the most famous monuments and touristic attractions like Piazza di Spagna, Piazza Navona and Phanteon, allowing students to experience from a privileged perspective the artistic beauty of the Italian Capital City. Due to its strategic position, the School of Rome is easy to be reached by any public transportation and train stations.

TOMORROW 2 BIS

CURRICULUM AND CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES

The School of Rome organizes a well-structured calendar of monthly Italian language courses for students of all levels and walks of life, ranging from Beginner to Advanced level in accordance with the six levels laid out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the Council of the European Union (levels A1-C2). The structure of each course is flexible in terms of number of hours and contents, thus able to meet every students’ need (e.g. 80 hours - Intensive, 40 hours - Semi-intensive, 32 hours - Ordinary, 20 hours - Conversation and tailor-made one-on-one private packages). During the lesson the four linguistic skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) are developed and improved through different types of activities, including simulations of real-life situations. The educational approach is based on communication (Communicative approach) to make the learning experience interesting, motivating and dynamic in order to provide learners the skills needed to practice Italian language actively in several contexts, including daily life, school, work and social interaction. The high quality standard of our Italian language courses is ensured by our teachers’ skills: all native Italian speakers, highly qualified and competent to teach Italian as foreign language, with several years of training experience. Every course complies perfectly with each student’s requirement.

At the end of each course students will receive an attendance certificate corresponding to the course level attended, called ADA certificate (Dante Alighieri Certificate). ADA’s course plan is the curricular and educational planning system of the Dante Alighieri Society. The Italian language school of Rome is a PLIDA certification center. The PLIDA Certificate confirms competence in Italian as a foreign language in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the Council of the European Union and allows its holders to register in an Italian University without having to take the Italian language exam (level B2 or C1) or to obtain the residency permit or the long residency permit (level A2 et seq).

SUPPORT AND CARE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

To gauge the level of the course most suited to your current knowledge of Italian language, before registration the School will arrange a placement test. The enrolment certificate provided by our School can also be used to obtain a study visa, when this is possible as specified by current legislation. In addition, the School will assist students upon their arrival to identify a suitable accommodation both with local families or private rooms in shared or private apartments.
