4 June-3 Sept 2004. Arguably the citys most pleasant summer festival, with mellow jazz concerts, good food and late-night events under the stars in the lovely gardens of Villa Celimontana. The programme includes its usual line-up of jazz and pop stars. Look out for a series of cycles dedicated to new jazz from different nations such as South Africa, Israel, Poland, the Netherlands and others. Big names still to look out for include those of Steve Coleman and the Mystic Rhythm Society (24 July), Michael Brecker Sextet (26 July), Sarah Jane Morris (29 July), Cleveland Watkins in collaboration with the British Council (3 Aug) and Brad Melhdau (4 Aug).
