Dreaming of the Dragon's Nation: Contemporary Art from China
27 Oct-6 Feb 2005. Dreaming of the Dragons Nation at the Irish Museum of Modern Art presents contemporary art from China as part of the China/Ireland cultural exchange, an inter-governmental project promoting cultural links between the two countries. Following the showcasing of Irish artists in Shanghai and Beijing, Dreaming of the Dragons Nation, presents a cross-section of contemporary art practice in China. The exhibition has been divided into five parts covering contemporary ink and wash, oil painting, Oriental metaphysics (abstract art of China), sculpture and installation, and photography and video art. The exhibition features the work of up to 50 artists such as Liu Qinghe, Xiang Liqing, Sun Liang, Zhao Bandi and also Yang Fudong (photo), who had a successful solo exhibition in the Douglas Hyde Gallery in 2003. ?
