Vatican Museums free for World Tourism Day

Payment still applies for Friday night late opening at Vatican Museums.

The Vatican Museums are free to visitors on Friday 27 September, for the 2019 edition of World Tourism Day, from 09.00-18.00, with last entry at 16.00.

However payment is required for the museums' late opening that night, from 19.00-23.00.

Promoted by the World Tourism Organisation (WTO), World Tourism Day is celebrated worldwide every 27 September, and the Vatican has participated each year since the initiative began in 1980.

The 2019 theme is "Tourism and jobs: a better future for all”, with official celebrations centred in this year's host country India.
