Urbi et Orbi.
Pope John Paul II made a 15-minute appearance at the window of his study for his traditional Easter blessing of Urbi et Orbi. The popes appearance, the only one during Holy Week, was the longest he has made at his window since his return from hospital where he underwent a tracheotomy. The frail pope seemed visibly frustrated by his inability to speak and many of the thousands of faithful who crowded St Peters Square were visibly moved to witness this famous communicator who is now silent.
