There is a new help line for gay, lesbian and transsexual people run by Arcigay Roma, the Italian lesbian and gay association, in collaboration with the city and province of Rome. The toll free number to call is 800713713 and the operators who respond have been especially trained to listen and give advice on legal matters, indicate where to find psychological and medical help, as well as offer information on gay, lesbian and transsexual support groups, meeting points and activities. There will also be information on initiatives to be brought into schools such as on the prevention of HIV and Aids as well as information for those seeking to volunteer.
