Pyrotechnicians from Italy, Malta, China, Romania, Japan, Slovenia, England and Spain are to gather in Valmontone southeast of Rome from 1-5 August for the fifth edition of the international fireworks competition Caput Lucis. The six-day event opens with a fireworks display presented by the winner of the last two editions, Pirotecnica Srl. The competition proper gets underway the following day, with two countries competing each evening until 5 August, when the winner will be announced. The programme also includes music, comedy and exhibitions. Last year a total of around 300,000 people turned out to watch the fireworks displays. For information see the Caput Lucis website.
