Scholars Lounge unveils Easter Rising paintings
22 April. Rome's largest Irish pub, Scholars Lounge, is celebrating the centenary of Ireland's 1916 Rising by unveiling four paintings commissioned specially for the occasion by Rome-based Irish artist Jimmy Kennedy.
Three of the paintings will be of a 1916 Rising theme while the fourth is a portrait of one of Ireland's greatest musicians. The paintings will be unveiled by a representative of the Irish embassy to Italy at 20.00 on Friday 22 April.
Celebrations continue after the unveiling with live traditional music by energetic Irish performer Darren Byrne.
