At its 22nd edition, Romaeuropa Festival has carved a niche for itself that goes well beyond the national borders, with the Wall Street Journal describing it as one of the top four arts festivals in Europe. The festival has grown from year to year, with 60,000 paying spectators in 2006. Its rule of thumb has always been to promote inter-disciplinary and multi-media events that cross linguistic and cultural divides. This year the focus is on Asia and the Mediterranean, with protagonists from India, China, Japan, Israel, Lebanon, Palestine and Turkey.
