PESARO. 2011 ROSSINI OPERA FESTIVAL
10-23 Aug 2011. This unique festival is entirely devoted to Gioacchino Rossini. It takes place in the town of his birth and aims to revive, perform and study the musical heritage connected with the composer.
Rossini left his considerable fortune to the town which gave birth to the conservatory of music and the foundation that bear his name. The festival was established in 1980 in collaboration with the Rossini Foundation and has led to the performance of many controversial, daring and iconoclastic productions of the composer
