25 April 2005. It is almost 40 years since Lou Reed, New Yorks legendary poet rocker, recorded his first album with The Velvet Underground and Nico. Having cleaned up and kicked the drug habits years ago, Reed is still going strong, touring prolifically whenever he gets the chance. For his current European tour the line-up featuring Fernando Saunders on bass, Mike Rathke on guitar and keyboards, and Joan Scarpantoni on cello, has been confirmed. Throughout his career Reed has always sought to push his art in challenging directions, whether as a rock performer and composer, poet, lyricist, or sound experimenter. He has, however, managed to produce some of the most important albums of all time and a string of worldwide hits, including a recent UK top 10 single with the dance remix of Satellite Of Love. Dont miss Reed performing at the Tempodrom in Berlin this month.
