Vatican Library to close for renovation.
The Vatican Library is set to close for three years from mid-July for rebuilding and restoration work, a library spokesman confirmed. The work will involve installing air conditioning and dust protection as well as overhauling fire exits in the building, which houses a collection of over 75,000 manuscripts and 1.1 million books. Digital copies of some manuscripts will be available for consultation via the internet, but scholars will otherwise have to wait until September 2010 to access the Vatican library
