Some museums open on Christmas and New Year day

Some state museums in Italy will be open on Christmas Day and New Year Day.

In Rome the Galleria Nazionale d’ Arte Moderna, Palazzo Venezia and Villa Etrusco di Villa Giulia are the best known museums that will be open. If you want a trip out of town then both Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este will be open.

The Vatican Museums will be closed 25-26 December and on 1 and 6 January. From 1 January the full price of admisstion for one person goes up from €15 to €16.

As from 1 January it will not be possible to pay in the Vatican Museums by Bancomat or credit/debit cards.
