New surprise discovery at the Roman Forum.
A marble bust has been unearthed by Rome archaeologists at excavations in the Roman Forum on 19 July.
The discovery was made under Via Alessandrina, the small pedestrian street between Via dei Fori Imperiali and Trajan's Markets.
The find comes two months after archaeologists uncovered a marble head, dating from the Imperial Age, believed to depict a male divinity, most likely Dionysus, otherwise known as Bacchus.
The Republic of Azerbaijan donated €1 million towards the ongoing excavations, following an agreement reached in 2014 during the administration of former mayor Ignazio Marino.
