No fun along the Tiber banks.
There will not be a repeat of the beach along the Tiber this summer if the superintendent at the ministry of fine art and culture for Roman archaeology, Maurizio Galletti, has his way.
Galletti explained that in 2005 the city council issued last minute permits to various organizations but that this will not be permitted again. Anyone wanting to start a commercial activity on the river bank this year will have to apply not only to the city council but also to the ministry, where scrutiny will be slow and tough and where the decorum of the city will be paramount.
