Metro C building sites.
The last two building sites on what will be the first working section of the metro C line between S. Giovanni and Alessandrino in southern Rome opened on 25 June at Piazzale delle Gardenie and Piazza Mirti. The seven-kilometre stretch (roughly between Via Casilina and Via Prenestina to service the new residential and office developments around Centocelle) will link eight new stations to the current S. Giovanni A stop and is due to open to the public in February-March 2011. The stations now under construction are Lodi, Pigneto (connection to Ferrovie Regionali FR1 Fiumicino airport-Fara Sabina), Malatesta, Teano, Gardenie, Mirti, Parco di Centocelle and Alessandrino.
The metro C line will eventually link Grottarossa in Rome
