2-15 Dec 2007. Conducted by Asher Fisch, directed by Federico Tiezzi, with Albert Dohmen, Markus Hollop, Kristinn Sigmundsson and Klaus Florian Vogt.
As one theatre closes its season, two others open theirs. The S. Carlo in Naples inaugurates its new season with Parsifal by Wagner (2-15 Dec). It is the final work of the German composer, imbued with mysticism and more a spiritual voyage than an opera, which at its finale contemplates the most profound mysteries of the Christian faith. It was to have been conducted by Jeffrey Tate, who has pulled out due to ill health. In his place will be Asher Fisch, who recently conducted Parsifal at the Staatsoper in Vienna. The director will be Federico Tiezzi who has already proved himself in Wagnerian opera in Naples in 2005 with a Walkiria interpreted in a symbolic key as a voyage into the psyche of man.
