The Giornata del Contemporaneo is an annual event dedicated to increasing awareness of contemporary art in Italy. Organised by the Association of Contemporary Art Museums in Italy, the initiative is now in its ninth edition and as in previous years it involves contemporary art galleries across the country opening their doors free of charge. In addition to exhibitions, visitors can meet artists and participate in a variety of events including workshops and conferences. In Rome entry is free to MAXXI, Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XXI Secolo; Galleria nazionale d'Arte Moderna (GNAM); MACRO Testaccio and MACRO, Via Nizza; as well as a number of the capital's commercial art galleries. For full details see the AMACI website.
