Documenta Madrid 05

The second annual Documenta Madrid takes place in early May and offers film lovers the opportunity to see some of the best documentaries in Spain and from international directors and reporters too. The Festival is organized by the citys Arts Council and has its aim the promotion and development of the documentary as an art form in the audiovisual sector. Understood as a "faithful reflection of any social, cultural, economic, artistic, or environmental situation that exists in the world" the organisers hope to promote this audiovisual medium while also providing an annual rendezvous for the professionals, creators, and the public for whom these works are produced. Divided into two main sections full-length films and documentary series - a range of cash prizes are on offer for the participants who are expected to include artists from Spain, Romania, Portugal, the UK, China, Iraq, USA, Argentina, Peru, India, Belgium, and The Netherlands among others. Films will be shown at these eight cinemas all over the city: Cines Princesa, Cine Estudio Circulo Bellas Artes, Instituto Frances, C.C. Conde Duque, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Casa de America, La Boca del Lobo, Planetario de Madrid.
