Rossinis Cinderella will be performed at three different theatres in Tuscany: The Teatro Verdi in Pisa (23-24 Oct), the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca (30-31 Oct) and the Teatro Goldoni in Livorno (8-9 Jan 2005). Cinderella is a fun masterpiece taken from Perraults fairytale of the same name, but devoid of every magical implication. The work remains unchanged, with the poor Cinderella being maltreated by her family and with Rossinis triumphant and explosive finale, which is akin to vocal fireworks. The protagonists are Francesca Provvisionato, an interesting mezzo-soprano who is active mainly abroad, but who is starting to make her way in Italy. By her side are Giovanni Botta, Bruno De Simone and Mario Cassi. The producer is Simona Larchini, noted radio and television personality, who is also a lyrical connoisseur, with various opera productions to her credit. Paolo Di Nicola
