William Yang is an important Australian photographer whose focus is people - family, friends and acquaintances. His work often involves words, either written on the image or as part of a performance. Over the past 14 years Yang has been doing performance pieces with slide projections. Sadness, Friends of Dorothy and Blood Links are some of the titles that have toured extensively in Australia and overseas. His photographs and stage shows weave together two themes: the discovery of his Chinese heritage, and the rituals of dying and death in Sydney.
