Another public transport strike in Rome

Strike on Friday 26 June comes amid ongoing disruption at Fiumicino airport.

Trade unions representing workers at Rome’s public transport provider ATAC have scheduled a 24-hour strike on Friday 26 June.

The strike will affect ATAC buses, trams, metro and light rail services Roma-Lido, Roma-Giardinetti and Roma-Civitacastellana-Viterbo, from 08.30 until 17.00 and from 20.00 until end of service.

On the night between 26 and 27 June, disruptions can also be expected on the city's night bus service, the substitute buses for the Metro A line (which currently closes at 21.00 each night for maintenance), the Metro B/B1, and the number 8 tram.

The strike — which does not involve services provided by suburban bus company Roma Tpl, Cotral regional coaches, or the state railway — comes amid continued disruption at Fiumicino airport following the devastating fire in Terminal 3 in May.

This is the second strike action by ATAC in June.
