4,000 apply for 200 jobs as Rome city bus drivers

200 new Rome bus drivers central to ATAC recovery plan.

Rome public transport company ATAC has received 3,853 applications for 200 available positions as bus drivers.

The almost 4,000 applicants will be vetted by an external company which ATAC has entrusted - through public tender - with the hiring of 200 new drivers.

The jobs, with fixed-term contracts, are part of what Rome's mayor Virginia Raggi describes as ATAC's "recovery plan" which includes the arrival of 227 new buses.
