11 Nov. An American artist on the Grand Tour: Benjamin West in Italy 1760-63. Television personality and art enthusiast Loyd Grossman gives a lecture on the Grand Tour of Italy by Anglo-American painter Benjamin West (1738-1820), at the British School at Rome on 11 November at 18.00.
During West's time in Rome he met a number of international neo-classical artists such as German-born Anton Rafael Mengs, Scottish Gavin Hamilton, and Austrian Angelica Kauffman.
