Caught going round the bend.

A new type of traffic sensor to detect overtaking cars has caught 495 offending vehicles in its first seven days in use.

The sensor has been placed on a dangerous bend on the Via del Mare between Rome and the beach at Ostia. This is one of the most dangerous, accident-prone roads around the capital, especially at this time of year when Romans are hurrying to the sea.

The sensor is designed to activate when drivers overtake where they shouldnt. It then takes a photo of the vehicles number plate. Offenders will be fined and lose three points from their driving licence.
