Werther 13 & 15 Oct 2006. Conducted by Giovanni di Stefano, directed by Marco Carniti with Dmitry Korchak and Anna Caterina Antonacci.
As autumn begins, the Teatro Comunale Chiabrera di Savona will present Werther by Jules Massenet (13 and 15 Oct). The lead player will be Dmitry Korchak, a young tenor with excellent prospects at the start of his career, who sang well and with style in Rossinis Stabat Mater at Pesaro this summer. Accompanying him will be Anna Caterina Antonacci, who instead is at the apex of success. This soprano is constantly working to increase her repertoire of demanding roles. She sings frequently abroad, especially in Paris, but does not appear in Italy very often, so this performance is a great event. The director of the production will be Marco Carniti, who has decided to shift proceedings from the end of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century, since in this epoch men were still able to live their grand passions and what unites Werther and Charlotte is truly a grand passion that finds peace only in death.
