The festival, entitled The Body of Sound, boasts a programme that includes work by 73 composers from around the world in 87 performances including 26 Italian premieres and 16 world premieres, alongside installations, meetings, workshops and conferences. The Biennale Musica, which began life in 1930, was the first festival to run alongside the international art exhibition established back in 1895. Today, under the direction of Luca Francesconi, it is a place where different musical languages meet. This year the festival marks the centenary of the Futurist Manifesto
