8 June-27 July 2004. The citys first beach film festival takes place every Tues on the beach in front of Ostias La Rotonda. The evening starts off with a cult movie which will set the tone for the rest of the night, with exhibitions, music, costumes and a themed disco. Clockwork Orange by Stanley Kubrick (13 July), Borotalco by Carlo Verdone (20 July), and Easy Rider by Dennis Hopper (27 July).
Starsky & Hutch. Between 1975 and 1979, the red Ford Gran Turino with the white stripe was probably the coolest car on the planet. We used to watch Starsky & Hutch religiously every Saturday night and you could divide your school right down the middle between those who favoured cardigan-wearing Dave Starsky and those who prefered blond Ken "Hutch" Hutchinson. No one under the age of 30 will have any share in this memory pool, which is a shame, because it means Ben Stillers uncanny caricature of Starsky will be wasted on the films primary audience. Stillers exertions notwithstanding, this spoof is too amiable to cook up anything truly memorable, but fans of the odd-couple Stiller-Owen Wilson combo will find plenty to amuse. Time Out
