30 Nov-17 Dec 2004. Conducted by Gary Bertini, directed by Lluis Pasqual, with Thomas Moser, Jeanne-Michle Charbonnet, Konig Marke, Jan-Hendrick Rootering. In German.
The Teatro di S. Carlo in Naples inaugurates its season with Tristan und Isolde by Wagner (30 Nov-17 Dec). The Neapolitan theatre seems inclined to open its seasons with German works: last year it was Elektra by Strauss and this year it has chosen Tristan und Isolde. The conducting has been entrusted to Gary Bertini and the vocal cast is made up of singers familiar with Wagnerian theatre. The only surprise is Llus Pasqual as director an unconventional choice, judging by his production of Le Comte Ory in Pesaro last summer. www.teatrosancarlo.it.
