7-27 Jan 2005. Showing at the Royal Hibernian Academy, this is a new cycle of paintings by Thomas Brezing, member of the innovative Renegade Art Studios, principally inspired by his daughter, Maya. Five young artists belong to the Renegade collective that shares a studio and exhibits collectively in North County Dublin. The paintings take the perspective of a child, looking at the time and space between birth and death while also searching for something of the wilderness. People with no-where to go, but who return there over and over in pursuit of their wild side, their masculinity. The works aim to ask What makes you come alive? What stirs your heart? An accompanying soundtrack was put together by Thomas Watson with the four-year old Maya's profound-naive comments.
Open Tuesdays to Saturdays 11.00 to 17.00, Thursdays till 20.00, Sundays 14.00 to 17.00.
