The Skin of Our Teeth by Thornton Wilder, presented by The Rome Savoyards in collaboration with Plays in Rome, directed by Sandra Provost. Pulitzer Prize-winning Wilder’s The Skin of Our Teeth was published in 1943 to critical and controversial acclaim.
The play is a romp through human experience taking in many of the prominent voices in literary history, but it has a darker side as well. In his complex text Wilder juxtaposes the most ancient of characters like Adam, Eve, Cain, and even Homer with modern society, complete with anachronisms of all sorts, highlighting the fact that while the incidental worries of modern society may differ, many of the realities of everyday life remain consistent.
