London's Bedouin Shakespeare Company stage The Merchant of Venice in Rome.
10-14 Oct. As is customary in recent years, Rome’s Shakespearean festival at the Silvano Toti Globe Theatre concludes with an English-language performance of The Merchant of Venice in a production by London's Bedouin Shakespeare Company, from 10-14 October.
Director Chris Pickles has cast the two main rivals Shylock and Antonio as women, promising an "exciting new power dynamic" in a reinterpretation of one of Shakespeare's most popular, challenging and thought-provoking plays.
