The Cure concert in Rome
30 Oct. This English rock band formed in 1976 but its only remaining original members is vocalist, guitarist and main songwriter Robert Smith.
Associated with Britain's post-punk and new wave movements in the late 1970s, The Cure embraced the emerging gothic rock genre of the early 1980s before changing track once again, and turning to a more pop sound.
The band has sold in excess of 27 million albums and has had major hits with songs such as Just Like Heaven, Lovesong and Friday I'm in Love.
