At the Teatro delle Muse di Ancona, Roberto Devereux by Donizetti will be performed (18-20-22 Jan 2006). It is an opera centered on Elizabeth I of England, who Donizetti portrays as a tragic figure, overtaken by jealousy and the desire for revenge, but who also retreats into desperation. It is a difficult role from a vocal point of view and for this production the protagonist will be played by Dimitra Theodossiou, who has both vocal power and zeal, which she demonstrated in Verdis "I Lombardi all prima crociata", performed in Florence last September.
