25-30 Jan 2005. OVNI stands for Observatori de Video No Identificat (Unknown Frame Observatory). Taking place at the Centre de Cultura Contempornia de Barcelona the Observatory archives have been grouped in themes and are intended to encourage a critical approach to contemporary culture and global political hegemony through video art, independent documentary and mass media archaeology. In the 12 years since it began, OVNI has acquired more than 1,000 documents and works for the Observatory Archives. OVNI 2005 presents a collection of videos describing the various resistance movements throughout the world: Palestine, Iraq, Venezuela, the United States, and in Barcelona itself. The archives cover a huge range of diverse works which manage to share a commitment to free expression and reflect back on individual and collective fears and pleasures. The venue is at Montalegre 5, 08001 Barcelona, closest Metro stations are Plaa Catalunya and Plaa Universitat.
