Lucio Silla by Mozart.
23 June-1 July 2006. Conducted by Tomas Netopil, directed by Jurgen Flimm, with Roberto Sacc, Annick Massis, Monica Bacelli, Veronica Cangemi and Stefano Ferrari. This is the first ever staging of this opera in Venice. The work was first performed in Milan in 1772 and is regarded as the finest of Mozarts youthful operas, an astonishingly assured work with an impressive overture. It tells of an incident in the life of the Roman dictator Lucius Cornelius Silla.
