This is the 2011 production, which saw the opera debut of the Neapolitan playwright Ruggero Cappuccio. Donizetti’s light and sunny opera is conducted by Donato Renzetti, a master of opera buffa. It has a young cast with Rosa Feola, Francesco Meli, Antonio Poli, Alessandro Luongo and Adrian Sampetrean. Both Feola and Poli have given successfully performances recently in London.
Donizetti wrote L’Elisir d’Amore, which is still one of the world’s most frequently performed operas, in six weeks in 1832.
