Imperial Russian Ballet

Until 24 July 2005

The Russian school of Vaganova, Ivanov, Pavlova, Fokine and Lifar has gone down in history as one of the finest in the world. Formed by the great Maya Plisetskaya in 1994, this Imperial Russian Ballet group continues in that tradition and is now run by Gediminas Taranda, former leading soloist of the Bolshoi Ballet. In the Bolshoi, explains Taranda, I learned everything Im now trying to show the public with this group Our company has 45 young ballarinas, who are technically very well prepared. Many of them have won major international prizes: in 2003 for example, Anastasia Mikheykina was awarded the St Petersburg Ballet Prize and Kirill Radev won first prize in Luxemburg, while in 2002 Alia Tanykpaeva won first prize in Austria. Besides this, all the great ballets we cover are faithful to the versions created last century.
