11-23 May 2010. By Marguerite Duras, with Mariangela Melato, directed by Massimo Luconi. This controversial and semi-autobiographical work by Duras was published in 1985, but was drawn from diaries she supposedly wrote during world war two. Known in English as War: A Memoir, it is a collection of texts recounting her experiences of the Nazi occupation of France and the effect of war on individual identity. She confuses the identities of the characters, including her own, to show the similarities between heroes and villains and underlines the fact that as humans we all share similar traits and emotions.
