Festival della Valle d’Itria.
Martina Franca. 16 July-5 Aug 2009. Founded in 1975, this world class music festival has always encouraged forgotten operas and new talent. The programme in 2009 showcases the rarely perfomed opera Re Lear by Antonio Cagnoni, and a tribute to Gluck with the staging of his Orpheus and Euridice and Iphigenie auf Tauris. It also celebrates Haydn in the bicentenary of this death. The programme offers concerts and recitals in venues throughout the city and its surroundings.
