The festival season begins in Barcelona with the Estrella Damm Primavera Sound festival, with some of the top names in international rock, pop and indie music of the last 30 years. The festival is a chance for record labels to launch new artists, both to industry professionals and the public at large. Some of the performers taking part this year are: the Spanish indie pop band Astrud, Eighties legends The Human League, riffers and one time Ukrainians The Wedding Present, as well as the electronic refinements of Tortoise. This years event takes place down at the dockside, which was redeveloped in 2004, with its brand new 15,000 capacity Nitsa/Apollo main stage hosting Sonic Youth, Iggy and the Stooges, and Mancunian pioneers New Order. The Rockdelux por Lois stage is right down on the water and offers a wealth of live pop and rock music. New bands are scheduled to perform on the Danzka CD Drome stage, there is even room for punk-esque bands on the Nasti stage. Tickets cost 40 on Thur 26th, 60 on Fri 27th and Sat 28th, three-day tickets cost 95 in advance, 100 on the door.
