7-19 May 2005. Conducted by Renato Palumbo, directed by Daniele Abbado, with Sonia Ganassi, Mariola Cantarero, Mario Zeffiri and Bruce Sledge. For this opera, first performed in 1815, Rossini reused the overture and finale from his earlier Aureliano in Palmira. The overture turns up again in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, where Rosinas first aria is not entirely dissimilar from Elisabettas.
