6-10 Oct 2004. The fourth edition of Docupolis, the International Documentary Festival takes place at the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB). Past festivals feature a guest country and retrospective on a documentary filmmaker, as well as various thematic sections, video, seminars and much more. A total of 635 documentaries have been enrolled in this edition, with prizes for the best entries. The four awards will be: Best Documentary Film Award, Temtica Urbana Award, Canal 33 Award (Best Short Best Film) and Opera Prima Award. The official program will include a retrospective of Santiago lvarez (1919-1998), one of the leading figures of Cuban and international documentary filmmaking, works by Armenian filmmaker Artavazd Pelechian, travel in the imaginary Mediterranean along with many more films from over 50 countries. A detailed look at the work of French producer and documentary filmmaker Yves Jeanneu and a seminar with Antonio Weinrichter are also planned.
