Cara de Plata (Silver Face).

13 Jan-20 Feb 2005. In a world dominated by a continuing form of feudal life, surprising twists and turns, small rural villages and churches, Cara de plata (Silver Face) is Ramon Maria of Valle-Inclans portrait of the decay of the Montenegro family. Archaic characters, moved by the most primitive and elementary of passions, refuse to let go of their privileges despite of the evidence of the decline of the familys standing. This play is a story about the end of one world and the beginning of another hinting at the class struggles to come. And the family is the universe where all the contradictions of society arise. Classic theatre? Contemporary theatre? Universal theatre. Born in Villanueva de Arosa in 1866, Valle-Inclan is considered the greater innovator of 20th century Spanish theatre. Written in 1922-23 Cara de plata belongs to a cycle of three pieces known as the Barbarian Comedies, follow along with wing Aguila de blasn (1907) and Romance de lobos (1908).
