The Galleria Borghese hosts seven works by German photographer Candida Höfer that reconstruct how the original Borghese collection looked before being broken up by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1807. Höfer documented last year's Borghese e lʼAntico exhibition when the most important pieces from the original Borghese collection (which now makes up the core of the Louvre Museum antiques collection) were reunited to their place of origin. Höfer's photographs allow visitors to experience a virtual walk through the halls of what Italian sculptor Antonio Canova once described as “the most beautiful villa in the world."
